A Model of Life, A Discovery Process:
Understanding Power and Identity

Audience: General, Any Industry

This seminar is a profound exploration into the themes of power and identity. Using a powerful Power Analysis Methodology, participants are encouraged to explore and critically analyze the role that power plays in their lives and the lives of others in the context of race and culture, skin color, economic class, gender, and sexual orientation.

Creative participatory activities and fun self-reflective exercises are used to help participants make sense of the concepts of power, empowerment, oppression, internalized oppression, prejudice, and discrimination. A safe and supportive learning environment is created so that participants can have open dialogue and can take emotional and intellectual risks in the exploration of these provocative themes.

The seminar can also be modified for senior high school and college students. It can be easily incorporated into any orientation program, resident advisor training, or peer educator training.
